The Claudia & Martin Deurr Legacy Programme is Chosen Generation’s flagship child sponsorship and talent development initiative, launched in 2025 by Claudia Duerr.
The purpose of the program is to give life to the academic and creative dreams of vulnerable children and youth in the greater Luwero region. We do this by supporting young people to achieve both academic goals and personal aspirations in talent and community impact. At the heart of the Duerr Legacy Programme is the conviction that lighting a single life with opportunity creates a ripple of hope that reaches far beyond what we see.
Claudia and Martin Duerr arrived in Uganda in 2022 as development workers through a partnership between the Church of Uganda and Coworkers, a Christian missions organization in Germany that mobilizes professionals and volunteers for global service. Stationed in Luwero Diocese, the couple worked closely with diocesan schools, particularly in the IT department, to enhance digital literacy and access for both teachers and students.
Beyond their formal roles, Claudia and Martin became active participants in the work of Chosen Generation’s missionary department. They fully embraced the vision of raising a generation of youth equipped to live holistic, Christ-centered, and self-sustaining lives. Together, they took part in outreach ministry, supported a local football academy, and provided educational assistance to vulnerable children.
Although Martin sadly passed away in December 2022, Claudia courageously carried forward the work they had begun. Her steadfast commitment and resilience expanded their impact to those most in need. Through her generosity and dedication to sharing God’s love in action, countless lives have been touched. Many who received her support have gone on to shine in their own right, academically, socially, and spiritually, becoming lights that now brighten the lives of others.
As Claudia Duerr concludes her service in 2025, Chosen Generation is proud to launch the Deurr Legacy Programme to sustain and expand the impactful work she has championed with such passion. This initiative will focus on removing barriers to education by providing support for learning opportunities and essential school supplies, alongside meaningful mentorship. Additionally, it will seek to identify and nurture talents in music, arts, sports, and leadership among young people in underserved communities.
